ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, President: Masafumi Sugimoto) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a capital alliance with InnoJin Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Representative: Takenori Inomata, hereinafter "InnoJin"), a startup originating from Juntendo University that conducts IT-based businesses related to medical care and healthcare, effective February 28th. Through this alliance, we aim to accelerate support for eye health utilizing digital medical technology and, by combining the expertise in eye care of both companies, realize the well-being of people and society, starting with the eyes.
Background and purpose of the investment
Our company has been conducting research on the eyes for over 110 years, driven by the desire to not only protect and support the ability to see, but also to support happiness and well-being that lies beyond that. We have developed and sold a variety of products, including eye drops, to meet diverse needs. In recent years, we have also been conducting clinical trials for the development of medical eye drops.
InnoJin is a university-born startup committed to the digital transformation of healthcare through the research, development, approval, and commercialization of medical devices using innovative digital technologies. Towards realizing human-centered healthcare in Society 5.0, the company is conducting research and development on smartphone app-based medical devices for dry eye and hay fever, medical devices utilizing VR/XR technology, and developing a platform for the widespread adoption of online medical consultations.
We have entered into a capital alliance with InnoJin Inc. because we believe that by combining InnoJin's digital medical technology with our expertise in eye care, we can support people's eye health through a new approach. The capital will be acquired through a third-party allocation of newly issued shares by InnoJin Inc.
