Background and purpose of participation
Our company has established the "ROHTO Group Comprehensive Management Vision 2030: Connect for Well-being," and we are continuing to take on various challenges toward the future of medical care and healthcare with the aim of realizing a well-being society. We sympathize with the purpose of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, which aims to help people discover their potential and take a positive step toward a new self through experiences and hands-on activities, and we will participate in it. We will also exhibit "Future Eye Care" in the "Future Healthcare Zone" provided by the pavilion.
In our Eye Care Business, since launching eye drops in 1909, we have been conveying the importance of eye health to people of all ages through various activities. In recent years, we have also focused on activities that provide opportunities for people to become aware of, think about, and take action regarding their own eyes and the eyes of their loved ones, such as providing information on caring for tired eyes, which is a social issue, especially among working people, myopia in children, and "eye frailty," which is the decline in eye function due to aging. At the Osaka-Kansai Expo, we hope to continue protecting the "joy of seeing" in this era of 100-year lifespans and to use it as an opportunity to raise awareness about eye health.
Exhibition Theme: ~Future Eyecare Station~
At our exhibition booth, we will provide an opportunity to think about eye health by showing visitors their current health score based on their individual eye information from their Personal Health Record (PHR). Furthermore, visitors can learn about future solutions utilizing digital devices such as VR, as well as future eye drops. In recent years, lifestyles that strain the eyes, particularly those involving digital devices, have become a problem. However, it is predicted that as sensing technology that quantifies health status based on eye information develops, we will be able to identify eye diseases early and take preventative measures. Our company will continue to develop new technologies related to eye health, deepen interest in health, and contribute to the realization of a well-being society that goes beyond just eye health.
Experience: Visualizing the health of your eyes
Through an experiential exhibit utilizing PHR (Personal Health Record), we will provide a future experience that visualizes people's health status. We have developed a technology that estimates eye health scores from captured eye images. Based on captured images and questionnaire data, it will be possible to easily find out your current eye health score and envision a future where you can receive personalized advice.
Exhibition: Experience future solutions
We will be showcasing innovative and unprecedented ideas for future solutions and product concepts to care for eye diseases and related concerns. Through various exhibits related to eye care, including new eye drops and eye care products that may exist in the future, as well as approaches utilizing AI, digital technology, and devices, you can learn about future solutions.
▲Examples of future eye care solutions (future eye drops and programs utilizing VR)
-
Sustainable and personalized cartridge eye drops
This is a concept model of a cartridge-type eye drop that allows users to select and instill the most suitable ingredients for their individual needs based on their Personal Health Record (PHR). The system allows for mixing water and medication and filtering the solution before use, potentially enabling long-term storage of the medication. It is envisioned to be useful not only for daily use but also in emergency situations.
-
A device that utilizes digital technologies, including VR, to promote health through "eyes and seeing."
We envision a device that offers the potential for total healthcare, starting with eye care, including mental health care that checks "stress levels" from eye movements, brain care that enhances concentration and brain function in a VR space, and content that can improve sports performance.
