– a joint project with Space BD Inc.

ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, President and Representative Director: Masafumi Sugimoto) will participate in the development of a new cell experiment system aimed at providing opportunities for space experiments, being advanced by Space BD Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President and Representative Director: Masatoshi Nagasaka, hereinafter referred to as Space BD), which was selected as the lead organization for the "Low Earth Orbit General Purpose Experiment System Technology" project under the Space Strategy Fund Project implemented by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in fiscal year 2024.
Background and purpose of participation
Our company, under ROHTO Group Comprehensive Management Vision 2030, "Connect for Well-being," has expanded its business into Regenerative medicine and food, undertaking various initiatives that contribute to people's well-being, from advanced medical care and prevention/prevention of illness to daily health. Space BD has been selected as the development implementing organization for "Low Earth Orbit General Purpose Experimental System Technology" in the FY2024 Space Strategy Fund Project, which was publicly solicited by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). We sympathize with this initiative, which aims to provide more efficient and economical opportunities for space experiments in order to cultivate the space experiment market after 2030, and together with the Fujita Health University Tokyo Advanced Medical Research Center, we will participate in the development of a new cell experiment system, utilizing the knowledge of cell biology, cell culture technology, and culture equipment development that we have cultivated in regenerative and cell medicine research.
