ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Masafumi Sugimoto) conducted a "Survey on Intimate Areas" targeting women aged 15 to 59 nationwide (excluding junior high school students and those working in related industries) in order to understand the awareness and actual situation regarding women's concerns and care of their intimate areas.
Key Findings from the Survey
Delicate body care has the same level of demand as oral care. What are the concerns that approximately 60% of women have?
- 58% of women have experienced problems in their delicate areas, a level similar to that of oral sex.
- The most common gynecological concern was "noticing an abnormality in the odor/quality of vaginal discharge," at 38.5%, surpassing concerns about menstrual symptoms.
- Itching accounts for over 60% of the most common complaints regarding delicate areas.
- The most common cause of problems in delicate areas is "dampness" or "dampness." Among those in their 20s and 30s, some also believe that "stress" is the cause.
Problems with delicate areas are becoming more serious, while the reality that many people are not taking proper care of these areas is becoming increasingly apparent.
- Regarding problems in delicate areas, as many as 40% of people have been experiencing them for more than two years.
- Despite having long-standing problems, only about 30% of people have experience with self-care.
- Only about 10% of people use specialized cleansing products for self-care.
