ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, President: Hidetoshi Segi) will launch a dog skincare series on September 13, 2025 (Saturday) under its animal business brand "Anitto," which supports the health of companion animals (family members and partners) as part of its efforts to realize a more well-being society.

Product launch background

Since our founding, we have supported people's health and beauty through over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals and skincare cosmetics. In recent years, under the slogan "Connect for Well-being," we have expanded our business into areas such as Regenerative medicine and food, aiming to realize a well-being society. These changes in the social environment are also bringing new values to the role of companion animals, who are our close partners, and to the way we perceive health.
In Japan, the integration of companion animals into the family is rapidly progressing, and the number of pets now exceeds that of children under 15 years old *1. Among these, canine skin diseases are one of the most common issues in veterinary medicine *2, and the high frequency of recurrence and chronicity are burdensome not only for the dogs but also for their owners. Our company has focused on the continuous care and prevention that are often lacking in maintaining the skin health of animals. By applying our long-standing research, quality, and safety knowledge to animals, we have launched the "ANIT" canine skincare series with the aim of contributing to the health and quality of life of dogs, who are members of the family, and to creating a state of well-being for both dogs and their owners.

What is an animate?

Anit is Rohto Pharmaceutical's first animal business brand, born from our desire for animals and everyone around them to live happily and healthily together, and leveraging the knowledge about human health cultivated through years of research in skincare, eye care, and Regenerative medicine.
Annit was born from the desire of our employees working in veterinary medicine to "deliver more to animals" that they felt in their clinical practice. In addition to proposing products and services, we also consider the well-being of the families who support the health of animals, as well as the well-being of veterinary professionals. We offer products and services that support not only treatment, but also prevention before illness occurs and daily care habits, supporting both animals and people.

  1. Focusing on skin moisture, all products contain Rohto's original ingredient, nano-fermented ceramide plus.
  2. Focusing on the skin's bacterial balance, all products contain gluco-oligosaccharides.
  3. Formulated with consideration for dogs' natural instincts (licking).

Skin care supplements

  1. Focusing on moisture retention through health maintenance, this product contains ceramide-containing soy sauce lees extract.
  2. Focusing on the balance of bacteria in the gut, this product contains lactic acid bacteria.
  3. Recipes are designed with allergens in mind *5, while also prioritizing deliciousness and ease of continuation.
  4. It uses ingredients that are also used in human food products.
  5. Comes in a powder form that's easy to sprinkle on food, plus includes a measuring spoon.

The product development team's thoughts on Annit

New Business Development Department, Veterinarian, Kimito Nomi

While working as a veterinarian at an animal hospital on weekends, I've come to realize just how common canine skin diseases are and how much of a concern they are for pet owners. Rohto Pharmaceutical allows its employees to have side jobs, so I've been able to continue gaining experience in clinical settings alongside my main job. From these daily experiences, I developed a strong desire to change the problem of symptoms recurring even after being temporarily relieved by medication.
In developing "ANIT," each member contributed their accumulated experience and know-how from working in animal hospitals and other settings. Rohto's skincare technology has a long track record in the human field. With a focus on evidence and safety, we were able to create a "genuine care item" that can be easily incorporated into the daily routine of dogs and their families. Moving forward, we will continue to value the real voices from the field and expand our product lineup and preventative and health support systems, aiming to improve the well-being of animals and people throughout society. We want to be a presence that supports the healthy and happy lives of dogs and their families, and brings smiles to their faces. This wish is embodied in ANIT.
