What is a social partner?

These are retail partners who, in collaboration with Rohto Pharmaceutical, donate a portion of their sales to social contribution activities such as medical support in Japan and around the world. In this initiative, a matching gift system is employed where partner companies contribute a portion of the sales of the target products, and Rohto Pharmaceutical matches that amount. This is a unique social contribution activity of Rohto Pharmaceutical where companies and distributors work together to expand the circle of support. For the 10th term, a portion of the sales of "V ROHTO PREMIUM," "V Rohto Contact Premium," "V Rohto Active Premium," "V Rohto Dry Eye Premium," and "Rohto Kodomo Soft" from December 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026 was donated.

Total amount of donations to date

From the first to the tenth phase, we received support from 38 of our business partners, and the total amount donated is 18,741,850 yen.

Background of the activities

Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide, and it is estimated that tens of millions of people still lose their sight each year. Cataracts are a disease in which the lens of the eye, which acts as the eye's lens, becomes cloudy, leading to decreased vision. In Japan, advances in surgical techniques have significantly reduced blindness due to cataracts, but in developing countries, poverty, a shortage of doctors and medical equipment, and inadequate surgical systems mean that many people still cannot receive treatment. Our company has been working to provide free eye examinations, intraocular lenses, and train local doctors. With the desire to bring the "joy of seeing" to as many people as possible, we have been collaborating with our business partners as "social partners" to expand our circle of support.
Furthermore, in recent years, childhood myopia has been rapidly increasing in Japan, making the importance of daily eye care awareness even greater. Our company is strengthening awareness activities and product development to protect children's eyes, and in our 10th term, we have added "Rohto Kodomo Soft" to our target products. Moving forward, together with our social partners, we will continue our activities to support the "joy of seeing" for people all over the world, and work to solve eye health issues, including the eye health of children.

Introduction of the recipients of our support

In our 10th term, we made donations to organizations that provide ophthalmic medical support activities, primarily in Asia and Africa.

OUI Inc. (OUI Corporation) <Representative Director: Eisuke Shimizu>

OUI Inc. is a venture company spun off from Keio University School of Medicine, founded by a practicing ophthalmologist. Their mission is to reduce blindness worldwide by 50% and protect people's health through eye care.
Based on the concept of spreading the "eyes" of ophthalmologists to the world, they have developed a smartphone-attachable ophthalmic diagnostic device called Smart Eye Camera (SEC). Using the portable and easy-to-use SEC, they are dedicated to delivering ophthalmic medical care to patients around the world, including those in developing countries, who have previously had difficulty accessing ophthalmic medical care itself.

NPO Asia Association for the Prevention of Blindness <Chairman: Shigeru Kinoshita>

The NPO Asia Blindness Prevention Association was established to support the dedicated work of Dr. Tadashi Hattori, a graduate of the Department of Ophthalmology at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, in Asia. With the hope that even one person in the Indochina Peninsula, mainly Vietnam, and other poor countries in Asia will not lose their sight, the association provides free ophthalmic treatment and technical training on the ground.

Bringing the joy of seeing to the world, beyond national borders! The "Joy of Seeing Project"

In collaboration with the Rohto Group overseas, we are continuously developing the "Joy of Seeing (JoS)" project both domestically and internationally to protect people's eye health worldwide. One of the key themes of JoS is "Children's Eye Health and Myopia," and we provide opportunities for children and their parents to learn about the importance of their eyes and to recognize problems early and review their daily lifestyles through awareness campaigns at schools and other locations, free eye checks (vision tests, etc.), and distribution of educational materials. We are also advancing initiatives tailored to the challenges of each region, such as cataracts and dry eye, and in fiscal year 2025, we expanded our activities to 13 countries and regions, mainly in Asia, including Japan (approximately 85,300 event participants, approximately 65,300 eye checks). By collaborating with local stakeholders, we contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and the improvement of the health of local communities through awareness campaigns, information dissemination, free provision of eyeglasses and intraocular lenses, and support for cataract surgery.
