ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Hidetoshi Segi), in collaboration with Osaka Prefecture and its group company Rohto Wellcoat Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Masanori Kumazawa), will hold Feminine Care seminar for mothers and daughters entitled "Understanding Women's Bodies and Self-Care Correctly as a Mother and Daughter" on July 24th, "Self-Medication Day".
This event will provide an opportunity to learn about physical and mental changes caused by female hormones and self-care through seminars on women's health and the provision of a special menu based on ROHTO RECIPE. Through the acquisition of correct knowledge, experiences through food, and parent-child dialogue, we will support women's health awareness and the practice of self-medication.
Background of the event
According to estimates by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the economic loss due to health issues specific to women, such as menstrual symptoms, menopausal symptoms, gynecological cancers, and infertility treatments, amounts to approximately 3.4 trillion yen annually *1. In recent years, companies have shown increasing interest in supporting women's health from the perspective of health and productivity management, in order to realize a society in which women can live healthy lives and thrive in their own way. While interest in Feminine Care is on the rise, there are many who say, "I don't know where to start" or "I don't have an opportunity to talk to anyone about it." In addition, a survey shows that about 70% of women feel that they do not receive sufficient support regarding their health and physical condition at their workplace *2.
Rohto Pharmaceutical has consistently provided products and information that support women throughout their life stages, including pregnancy tests, ovulation prediction tests, women's supplements, and delicate area care products. However, women's health issues are not adequately discussed even among those closest to them. In particular, we believe that increasing opportunities for dialogue between mothers and daughters, using concerns such as menstruation, PMS, and menopause as a starting point for communication, will allow them to live more fulfilling lives as close companions.
Therefore, in collaboration with Osaka Prefecture, we decided to hold this event to create an opportunity to think about women's health through learning and food, coinciding with Self-Medication Day.

Special menu by ROHTO RECIPE
This limited-time menu, part of Osaka Prefecture's "Osaka EXPO Healthy Menu" standards, uses locally sourced Osaka ingredients while meeting the "VOS (Plenty of Vegetables, Appropriate Oil, Appropriate Salt)" criteria, and is also designed with women's bodily rhythms and nutritional balance in mind. It offers an experience of "health education through food," where you can naturally deepen your understanding of your body while enjoying your meal.

This deli incorporates ingredients containing polyphenols derived from beets. Beets are sometimes called "edible blood transfusions," and their unique, vibrant color enhances the overall appearance and visual appeal of the dish.
- Bitter melon and Japanese angelica salad with plum mayonnaise
Bitter melon, often called the king of summer vegetables, is rich in vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C is generally known as a nutrient that helps reduce fatigue and maintain healthy skin. Additionally, the flower bud mushroom is rich in beta-glucan, and this menu incorporates the principles of medicinal cuisine while also paying attention to color and nutritional balance.
And then there's Yamato Toki, which is associated with Nara Prefecture. It's a traditional Japanese herb characterized by its unique aroma, and in medicinal cuisine, it's a popular ingredient for warming the body, and it's been attracting attention in recent years.
- Fig and homemade ricotta caprese
This menu uses ricotta cheese to provide calcium. Ricotta cheese is a dairy product containing milk-derived protein and calcium, and is characterized by its mild flavor. Furthermore, the figs contain plant-based estrogen, offering potential beauty benefits. It's a simple yet healthy and well-balanced dish.
Cold noodle-style soup pasta with Nakajima greens and brown rice pasta
This dish uses brown rice pasta infused with Nakajima greens and features a refreshing soup inspired by the cold noodles originating in Tsuruhashi, Osaka. By incorporating Osaka's renowned kimchi, lactic acid bacteria are added, enhancing its value as a fermented food. Tomato juice is also used in the soup, resulting in a dish that offers the potential antioxidant benefits of lycopene.
<About Nakajima Nana>
Nakajima greens are a traditional vegetable from the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture, containing nutrients important for maintaining women's health, such as folic acid, iron, and zinc. The Nakajima greens pasta used in this dish is a product of "motto&", a gluten-free pasta brand launched as part of support for entrepreneurs within the company project "Asuniwa project". It is proposed as a menu item that combines the use of local ingredients with health benefits.
Throughout the meal, the themes of "fermentation," "local ingredients," and "women's health" are central, creating a lunch menu where you can naturally learn about and experience Feminine Care while you eat.
Interactive program for mothers and daughters
Through learning and food experiences, we create a space where people can naturally discuss women's health, a topic that is often difficult to talk about. We provide an opportunity for parents and children to take their first step towards Feminine Care.
Encouraging the practice of self-medication
Rohto Pharmaceutical will continue to support self-care even after the event by providing information and distributing samples related to Feminine Care.

From July 24th (Friday) to September 3rd (Thursday), ROHTO RECIPE will be offering the same lunch menu and providing information on women's health to customers who visit the restaurant. (Visiting the restaurant is not limited to female customers.)
Future developments
Rohto Pharmaceutical aims to create a society where everyone can live life to the fullest, and will support increased understanding of women's health issues and behavioral change. Through this event, we hope to encourage people to view Feminine Care not as something special, but as an integral part of daily self-medication, and to provide an opportunity for as many people as possible to focus on their own bodies.
Furthermore, through a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Osaka Prefecture, we will work together to contribute even more to the health of the residents of the prefecture.

What is the Osaka EXPO Healthy Menu?
Osaka Prefecture is promoting the development of a healthy eating environment and advocating for "VOS menus," which are healthy menus that take into consideration the amount of vegetables, oil, and salt, with the aim of extending the healthy life expectancy of its residents. Menus that combine a main dish and a side dish and meet all of the following criteria are approved as "VOS menus." Furthermore, in commemoration of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, menus that meet the above criteria while also incorporating elements of Osaka-produced products and Osaka gourmet food have been approved as "Osaka EXPO Healthy Menus."

This brand was developed by Not & LLC, a company born from Rohto Pharmaceutical's in-house venture program, "Asuniwa project Project." Based on the philosophy of "reconnecting people and land, industry and society," the company is working to create a system for the sustainable development of local industries through product development that utilizes the regional resources of Noto.
