Background of setting the new indicators

Recognizing that physical and mental health are the foundation for achieving well-being, we are promoting health and productivity management that aims to enable each employee to review their daily lives and become self-sufficient by setting specific goals. In recent years, our company has seen an increase in the number of employees and a rise in the average age, making the promotion of employee health even more important. Therefore, while continuing our efforts on the eight indicators that form the foundation of health, including overcoming metabolic syndrome, a risk factor for lifestyle-related diseases, which we have been working on since fiscal year 2017, we have also set four new indicators from fiscal year 2025 that will focus on inner fulfillment and lead to improved mindset.
Regarding the new indicators, we will promote the use of "39 (Thank You) Messages," an internal tool that allows employees to express gratitude to one another, as well as enriching employee mindsets through learning, reducing overtime work, and encouraging employees to take consecutive holidays. Through these multifaceted measures, we will strive to further enhance the inner well-being of our employees and sustainably energize people, society, and the future world.

Looking ahead

Deputy General Manager of Human Resources and General Affairs Department
Deputy Director, Sustainable Management Promotion Office
Akiko Yamamoto

Since our founding, we have developed and provided products that support our customers' health, such as gastrointestinal medicines and eye drops. From an early stage, we have believed that the health of our employees is the foundation of sustainable corporate growth, and we have focused on health and productivity management. We are working with the future in mind, focusing on improving lifestyle habits and promoting physical health, so that our employees can live their lives vibrantly even after leaving our company. This time, looking ahead to 2030, we have added four new indicators with the theme of "inner fulfillment" for our employees, aiming to realize well-being in both mind and body. At the same time, we have keenly felt from our experience that there are no shortcuts to solving health issues, and we believe that it is essential to create an environment in which each employee can autonomously address their health. Moving forward, we will continue to expand measures that enable employees to proactively engage in health and productivity management and provide even greater value to society.
