Our commitment to employee health, a value we've cherished since our founding.
Since its founding, our company has delivered products and services related to beauty and health to people around the world. Currently, under ROHTO Group Comprehensive Management Vision 2030, "Connect for Well-being," we are expanding our business into the fields of food and Regenerative medicine. As a company that has long been engaged in "health," we have undertaken various initiatives over the years to ensure that each and every employee who supports our foundation is healthy in both mind and body and can approach their daily work with passion (job satisfaction and a sense of purpose). In 2016, we established Health Management Promotion Group, and since then, we have been promoting various initiatives centered on this group, and in 2018, we formulated our philosophy of health and productivity management as the "Health and Productivity Management Declaration." While promoting work style reforms toward the realization of well-being, we also believe it is important to create an organizational culture that allows for free and open discussion and action, and we are promoting initiatives that lead to the revitalization of the organization. Furthermore, in 2022, we established ROHTO GROUP Health Insurance Society, and are broadly working on health promotion throughout the entire group of companies.
Recent examples of initiatives
Support for balancing caregiving and work (December 2023 onwards)
Scenes from a nursing care seminar
We regularly hold caregiving seminars and discussion groups for our employees and have established an individual consultation service. We have also developed a "Care Primary Sheet" in collaboration with industrial care managers to support employees in preparing for caregiving before it begins. Moving forward, we will continue to work to create an environment where employees can work with peace of mind by expanding support measures to help them balance work and caregiving and prevent them from leaving their jobs due to caregiving responsibilities, promoting flexible working arrangements, and introducing caregiving services.
Company-wide initiatives to establish exercise habits and improve sleep (May 2024)
With the aim of establishing exercise habits and revitalizing internal communication, we have been regularly holding walking events called "TokoChalle" since 2018. In 2024, we combined "TokoChalle" with a sleep improvement program, and the entire company worked to establish exercise habits and change behaviors to improve sleep. After approximately three weeks of the program, we achieved a significant improvement in ensuring employees get more than 6.5 hours of sleep and in their sense of rest from sleep.
Rohto Eye Dock, an ophthalmic checkup program aimed at extending the lifespan of healthy eyes (starting February 2025)
Left: Scene from a health checkup Right: Example of health checkup results
We are undertaking a new initiative aimed at extending the healthy lifespan of our employees by enabling early detection and prevention of eye diseases such as glaucoma and cataracts, which increase with age. In partnership with Nakanoshima Eye Center and Fujita Health University Haneda Clinic, we have introduced an eye health checkup program that utilizes cutting-edge medical technologies based on advanced research, such as anterior segment three-dimensional image analysis and optical coherence tomography angiography.
Eye health is directly linked to the quality of daily life, work, and even future life. As a company that develops Eye Care Business, including eye drops, we will support the long-term well-being of our employees by supporting their eye health.
Future Plans
We will take this selection as encouragement and strive to further promote health and productivity management. We will also extend health and productivity management we are currently implementing to our group companies, aiming to further enhance corporate value and contribute to society by creating an environment where each employee can work with vitality and health, both physically and mentally.
