Could you tell me about your daily work?

I am involved in the research and development of eye care products. I constantly consider what eye care can do to address our customers' various challenges. Recently, I have been collaborating with leading experts to advance digital medical initiatives. We are becoming able to obtain information about eye health from eye images, and I believe that in the future, knowing the state of eye health will lead to extending healthy life expectancy. I want to contribute to people's health beyond just providing eye medicine products.

What moments at work truly move you?

Although we have big themes like extending healthy life expectancy, what we actually do is quite mundane (laughs). We move forward with small projects one by one, and at first, people around us are skeptical, so things often don't go well. But it's a rewarding moment when we start to talk deeply about "the kind of future we want to achieve," and more people join us. I feel glad to be doing this job when everyone talks about it as if it were their own business.

What kind of heartfelt message do you want to convey to your customers?

We conduct research and development with the belief that we should create a cycle where people who use Rohto products become fans, and we continue to release good products from Rohto, and our customers continue to buy them. We want to support people who are working hard through eye drops. We hope that our products can be a constant presence for those who are struggling to work or feeling restricted due to eye strain. Our ambition is to go beyond just eye drops and extend people's healthy lifespans through eye care. In the future, we believe that caring for the eyes could potentially extend to caring for the mind and body as well. We believe that it is because each of Rohto's researchers has a passionate heart and is pushing forward that we can get closer to that future.
