Rohto Pharmaceutical x Regenerative medicine

The future of Regenerative medicine lies here. We are forging a path no one has walked before.

Could you tell me about your daily work?

I am in charge of research and development in Regenerative medicine. At Rohto Regenerative medicine, we are focusing on cell therapy, which involves creating therapeutic drugs from cells to cure patients' diseases. Cells are living organisms, so they are much more complicated to handle than compounds, but we are conducting research every day, believing that there is a possibility of curing diseases that were previously incurable. Administering cells is currently a specialized treatment method in Japan, but we envision a future where "Regenerative medicine is not something special, but an option that everyone can choose."

What moments at work truly move you?

Some people might imagine research work as a solitary experiment, but in reality, teamwork is incredibly important. Especially in fields like Regenerative medicine where there is no existing knowledge within the company or in the world, if you isolate yourself, the pace of progress will inevitably slow down. Working with the help of team members within the company, as well as receiving advice and wisdom from external stakeholders, is truly "Moving the Heart." I feel my heart is moving when I realize that I am forging a new path.

What kind of heartfelt message do you want to convey to your customers?

Rohto has always provided "accessible solutions that resonate with consumers" through its over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. This approach remains unchanged in Regenerative medicine. "Because no one else is doing it, Rohto will." With this in mind, we aim to expand the possibilities of Regenerative medicine and meet the expectations of even more people.

What kind of world will tomorrow be?
Do you want to change things?

A world where Regenerative medicine is presented as one of the treatment options. To achieve this, it is essential to keep costs down and present it as a standard treatment. For example, our goal is for regenerative medicine to be something that can be chosen as a routine treatment option, just like taking medicine when you have a cold. It may seem like a pipe dream now, but when we look back 10 or 20 years from now, we want to contribute to something that will be remembered as something we pioneered together with our colleagues inside and outside the company. We want to continue to persevere and challenge ourselves until Regenerative medicine becomes commonplace in society.
