Management System
The Rohto Group is strengthening its safety and health system across the entire group with the aim of ensuring safety in operations and improving Occupational safety and health environment for employees. In 2023, we established the Occupational Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Office and are working on implementing risk management, formulating a group business continuity plan (BCP), and strengthening supply chain management related to disaster prevention, thereby promoting the construction of a foundation that supports sustainable growth. In cooperation with Occupational Safety and Health Committee at each location, we are thoroughly enforcing compliance with laws and regulations and conducting education and awareness activities for employees.
Initiatives related to Occupational safety and health are regularly reported to management, and important matters are reviewed and decided upon by management as needed. Furthermore, the CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer) is responsible for these initiatives and oversees the group's safety and health management in cooperation with the Occupational Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Office, the Human Resources and General Affairs Department, and Sustainable Management Promotion Office.
Work-related accidents
Our company systematically promotes Occupational safety and health initiatives from the perspectives of "prevention, management, education, response, and improvement," with the aim of preventing and continuously improving occupational accidents. We aim for zero occurrences of all occupational accidents, from non-work-related accidents that do not require time off to fatal accidents, and we are working to reduce risks in all aspects of our operations, including sales and research and development departments, as well as in terms of equipment. We conduct risk assessments not only when introducing new equipment or changing operations, but also on an ongoing basis for existing operations, in order to identify and reduce potential risks that stem not only from equipment risks but also from work procedures and working methods.
Furthermore, we conduct safety audits and inspections to prevent occupational accidents and legal violations at each business site, and promote risk management, including Promotion of Chemical Safety, based on relevant laws and internal standards. In addition, we conduct awareness campaigns and training based on accident trends to improve safety awareness and identify risks early. In the event of an occupational accident, we investigate the cause, take countermeasures from both equipment and operational perspectives, and share and implement recurrence prevention measures throughout the company.
In addition, we analyze indicators related to occupational accidents based on industry standards and guidelines from public institutions, and utilize this analysis for continuous improvement. Information on the occurrence of occupational accidents is disclosed in our integrated report and ESG data. Furthermore, no serious violations of labor-related laws and regulations occurred in fiscal year 2025. We will continue to strive for strict compliance with laws and regulations.
Traffic Safety Initiatives
At our company, our sales representatives use company vehicles for purposes such as visiting clients. In addition, employees use cars to commute to work, and employee buses are also used. We strive to raise awareness of avoiding accidents and violations, and provide daily traffic safety training to our sales representatives, in an effort to ensure risk management.
Measures to prevent health problems caused by overwork
Our group promotes health and productivity management based on our corporate philosophy that "a company thrives only when its people are first and shining." In addition to preventing health problems among employees, we are committed to developing "autonomous health-conscious human resources" who can discipline themselves, manage their own health, and grow. We consider preventing and reducing excessive working hours for employees to be a key issue and implement appropriate working hour management based on labor-management agreements. Specifically, we utilize attendance management systems to track and manage working hours in cooperation with the workplace and the human resources department, and we promote flexible working styles such as teleworking and core-less flextime systems. Furthermore, based on the situation of long working hours and health checkup data, we conduct interviews with occupational physicians and public health nurses and take work restriction measures as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.
Mental health measures
We conduct stress checks for all employees (participation rate: 98.8% in FY2023, 99.8% in FY2024). We also provide line-care education to prevent mental health problems so that direct supervisors at the workplace can notice situations, speak up if necessary, and refer employees to occupational physicians. To ensure that employees seeking support can easily seek it, we have launched a 24-hour service offering consultations with external company-specific medical professionals, regardless of gender or employment status, in addition to consultation desks staffed by occupational physicians at each business location. We have also established a "Well-Being Support Room" where employees can seek advice from external counselors, including on career-related matters. Starting in 2024, we will also open a new consultation desk staffed by external industrial care managers to help employees balance work and caregiving. These efforts ensure a system that allows us to provide attentive support tailored to each employee's unique situation.
Labor-management relations
Rohto Pharmaceutical recognizes the importance of healthy labor-management relations based on mutual understanding and trust in running a company, and has concluded a labor agreement with the labor union to cooperate in the development of the company and maintain and improve the working conditions of union members. The agreement stipulates that the company recognizes the freedom of legitimate union activities of union members, will not treat them disadvantageously for this reason, and will establish and hold regular labor-management councils to ensure that the company and the union can negotiate on an equal footing.
Company policies that support the right to a minimum wage or living wage
In addition to complying with labor laws, we also comply with laws regarding wage payments and amounts so as not to disrupt the stability of employees' lives.
