Fostering a comfortable working environment
We also place importance on creating a corporate culture that maintains psychological safety in the workplace. Creating such a culture does not happen overnight. We place importance on creating a foundation that allows employees to demonstrate their abilities.
Creating a comfortable workplace
Use of “-san” Suffix and Workplace Nicknames "Rohto Name"
In 1994, we began addressing all employees by the “-san” honorific suffix so that they could address each other by name rather than position titles, out of respect for the fact that all employees are important partners and equal in their work. Subsequently, the Company launched an initiative to further stimulate communication by calling each other by workplace nicknames. Workplace nicknames are used on employee ID cards, in-house newsletters, and in many other situations.
39 (Thank You) ARUCO Campaign
The "39 (Thank You) Message" program is designed to encourage employees to express their gratitude to each other and to foster a culture of praise and recognition.
Employees can earn in-house health currency" ARUCO" for healthy lifestyle habits, such as walking and answering drills, by expressing their gratitude to each other. This leads to a natural expansion of the circle of gratitude beyond departments.
Supporting spontaneous activities
ARK Project
Since 2003, we have been running the ARK "Think about the Future of Rohto" project, in which employees volunteer to participate. Employees ranging from junior to veterans participate widely, and we tackle and realize important themes such as the environment, social contribution, human resources, and health management. Ideas such as External Challenge Work and Internal Double Jobs were also conceived and implemented through this project.
Promoting internal connections
Internal information dissemination
Through our print in-house newsletter "Seiryuu" and our online in-house newsletter "SHI-ROHTO+," we communicate the latest topics, such as new internal initiatives, messages from management, and employee insights. "Seiryuu" conveys the philosophy and aspirations we want to pass on at Rohto, while "SHIROHTO+" delivers the latest news in a timely manner, helping employees communicate with each other and creating new value. We have also launched new information dissemination initiatives, such as R-studio, which uses YouTube videos to share information focused on people.
Company-wide events
Through the “Grand Sports Day,” in which all employees participate, and the “Finish Line Challenge” walking event, we are building connections among employees and promoting their health. Volunteer project members plan and manage the “Grand Sports Day,” and participants, who are divided into teams in advance, prepare for the day of the event by practicing the competitions in their respective teams. Through this series of events, this initiative is designed to promote employee interaction and foster teamwork while having fun.
Improving the well-being of each individual
To ensure that the company and its employees grow together, Rohto Pharmaceutical strives to ensure that employees understand and empathize with the company's goals, feel a sense of fulfillment, and are motivated to work.
To understand how each employee is currently approaching their daily work, we have been conducting a self-assessment called "Well-being Points" twice a year since 2021, using five questions on a 10-point scale. This is open to all employees of all employment types, and each item is related to our company's management philosophy, values, and code of conduct. We plan and implement a number of measures based on this assessment score, which we consider to be one of our important management indicators.
The evaluation scores have been steadily increasing, and we have confirmed that employee well-being is gradually improving.
