- Promoting women's participation in the workforce, employment of people with disabilities, globalization, and the active participation of senior human resources
- LGBTQ+ initiatives and promoting diverse work styles
Promotion of women's success
With approximately 60% of our employees being female, we believe it is important to create a safe and comfortable working environment to support each and every woman in their work. We maintain a high standard for taking childcare leave and returning to work, and have enhanced support systems such as free gynecological examinations and nursing care leave. Our mother factory, Ueno Techno Center (Mie Prefecture), also has an on-site childcare facility for employees, and we strive to create a safe working environment. Thanks to our many years of promoting women's participation in the workplace, the ratio of women in management positions is high at over 30%. We are working to create an organization where all employees can thrive, regardless of gender.

Global Human Resources
The Rohto Group has 9,144 employees, of which 68% are foreign nationals (as of March 2025). At our overseas group companies, employees in each country and region are actively involved in activities such as working closely with local consumers and proposing products and services that suit their lifestyles and preferences. We understand the values of diverse customers, and value teamwork that generates ideas and new value that can provide truly needed products and services. We are promoting the appointment of global human resources and efforts for inclusion within the company.
LGBTQ+ Initiatives
To promote a culture of well-being that recognizes and respects the diversity of our employees, we introduced a "a same-sex partnership registration system" in January 2022. Same-sex partners are eligible for special leave, childcare leave regulations, family care leave regulations, congratulatory and condolence payment regulations, and access to company resorts. They can also designate their same-sex partner when receiving the company's unique survivor benefits. In September 2024, we formulated "Guidelines for Action Regarding Diversity of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity" and disseminated them to all executives and employees. Furthermore, we obtained Silver certification in the "PRIDE Index 2025," an evaluation index for workplace LGBTQ+ initiatives formulated by the general incorporated association work with Pride.
In addition, we make compliance-related video training, case studies, and incident reports available to all employees on our company intranet. Furthermore, we encourage our recruitment and HR-related staff to attend external training to promote understanding of LGBTQ+ and SOGI. Moving forward, we will continue to develop a workplace environment and consider systems that enable all people, including LGBTQ+ individuals, to thrive, and we will actively engage in employee awareness activities.

About the design of the rainbow heart logo
Hearts spread empathy and respect. Based on the corporate slogan "Moving the Heart" the heart motif design visually expresses support for and inclusive attitude towards the LGBTQ+ community. The warmth and strength symbolized by the heart embodies the company's sense of mission and spirit of compassion, and shows its stance of accepting LGBTQ+ diversity and moving forward with empathy and respect.
Employment of people with disabilities
We are promoting the creation of an environment where all employees, regardless of whether they have a disability, can maximize their individual capabilities. We are creating employment opportunities by utilizing satellite offices tailored to individual characteristics and expanding job categories with an emphasis on individual growth. We are also working to foster a corporate culture that enhances psychological safety for each employee by communicating inclusive initiatives within the company.
