Quality Policy

Rohto Pharmaceutical established its Quality Policy in January 2004 with the aim of providing safe and reliable products, and all employees work together in accordance with this policy in their daily work. The Quality Policy is a guideline for providing products that customers and patients can use with confidence. We are reviewing the policy in response to changes in the times and the expansion of our products. With the full-scale launch of our prescription pharmaceutical business, we are reviewing our previous Quality Policy in order to ensure that our customers can use higher quality products more safely. In April 2022, we introduced a new Quality Policy and are thoroughly informing all employees about it. We will continue to pursue even higher levels of quality and safety in all our products and activities.

compliance

Because Rohto handles a wide range of products, from cosmetics to pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and from products for general consumers to medical products, the regulations that are required are diverse and very complex. However, we strive to understand the meaning of regulations and the importance of complying with them through company-wide compliance training and other means.

What is the scientific basis?

We always make decisions based on scientific evidence, i.e., numbers. We pledge to make sound decisions based on this philosophy in all our activities, ensuring that our products can be used safely over their entire lifespan and releasing only safe products.

Transparency of information

We do not create walls between members, between superiors and subordinates, or between departments, and we constantly exchange information through daily conversations and regular meetings.
This is achieved through activities such as Rohto Name and Open Office.

Continuous improvement

We are not satisfied with the status quo, and are always thinking about what we can do to increase our customers' joy and peace of mind, and are prepared to improve our products and review our systems.

Our promise to our customers

We have installed quality policy boards in each business location. We communicate Rohto Pharmaceutical's quality policy to customers who visit our offices. We clearly demonstrate that leadership regarding quality lies with the president and other management, and strive to build trust by providing safe, secure, and high-quality products and services.

The power to transform quality into "actions" and "culture" - A company-wide initiative that supports continuous evolution

Building a foundation through company-wide training

Based on the belief that compliance is the foundation of quality, we conduct training for all employees every year. Over the past three years, we have achieved a 100% employee participation rate, and by reaffirming compliance with laws and regulations and ethical standards, each employee is heightened in their sense of responsibility and awareness regarding quality.

Fostering a quality culture

Based on the understanding that quality is not limited to a specific department but should be supported by all employees, we hold "quality exchange meetings" where employees can talk with departments away from the manufacturing site, such as sales and planning, to create opportunities for employees to see quality as something that "matters to them personally." Through exchanges between departments that normally have little opportunity to interact, we aim to break down barriers in awareness of quality and promote understanding throughout the company.

Field-led improvement and continuous initiative cycle

Rather than receiving top-down instructions, our company encourages employees on the front lines to hold discussions and implement improvement activities based on the question, "What do we want to be?" We use regular evaluations and feedback to check whether these efforts are leading to the establishment of a quality culture, creating a continuous improvement cycle.

Visualizing customer dialogue and feedback

In order to utilize customer feedback and reactions in product development and improvement, we have established a system in which customer feedback is collected weekly and made available for all employees to view. When feedback such as "this medicine improved my symptoms" reaches the front lines, employees are reminded of the pride and responsibility they feel for their work, which is "supporting someone's health," and this leads to increased awareness of quality.

Active involvement by management and ensuring psychological safety

Management is also actively involved in promoting quality improvement initiatives company-wide. The president and other management members regularly send out quality-related messages to help foster awareness on the front lines. They also emphasize "psychological safety," which makes it easy for anyone to speak up when they notice a problem or something is wrong, and management themselves routinely demonstrate an attitude of "please report anything immediately if anything happens."

Strengthening quality cooperation across the entire group

As a global group, we share quality issues and case studies between domestic and overseas bases through the Rohto Mentholatum Quality Conference (RMQC).In addition, the Rohto Group Manufacturing and Distributor Collaboration Conference, which is made up of five domestic group companies, aims to improve quality by leveraging the strengths of each company through regular exchanges of opinions and joint audits.
