Towards 2030, we have set 12 health indicators that will lead to 'physical wellness', such as improving exercise habits and metabolic syndrome, which are risk factors for lifestyle-related diseases, as well as 'improving the mind' to support a vibrant state from within.
We are promoting health and productivity management that improves well-being, based on physical and mental health.

Specific efforts to achieve the goal
"Sleep check" and "sleep improvement program" to improve performance
Company-wide sleep event to further address sleep issues
In April 2022, we conducted a "Sleep Check" for all employees to understand their sleep status. After that, we rolled out a "Sleep Improvement Program" for employees with sleep issues who wanted to participate, in which they wore a wearable device to understand their sleep status and lead to improvement. 94% of participants in this program responded that they "were able to understand their sleep status," which helped them become aware of their sleep issues.
In fiscal 2023, we continued with a two-session sleep improvement program for employees who had new issues from the previous fiscal year. More than half of employees still did not achieve the company-wide target of "sleep rate of 6.5 hours or more," and issues with sleep quality remain, so we positioned this as an issue that should be resolved with priority.
In fiscal 2024, with the aim of solving company-wide issues, we evolved the highly-participant walking event "Toko Challenge" and held "Toko Challenge 2024 Sleep Plus," which not only evaluated steps but also added bonus points such as sleep-related quizzes, habit improvement checks, and watching sleep seminars.
As a result, the "rate of getting 6.5 hours or more of sleep" improved by 10%, and sleep satisfaction improved by 22%. Among the many sleep concerns, 20% of employees who answered that they were particularly troubled by "not being able to get rid of fatigue through sleep" saw improvement, resulting in a 4.3% reduction in presenteeism *1. Furthermore, efforts by departmental teams led to an improvement in the rate at which behavioral change was implemented and increased communication levels.
*1: Measured using the SPQ (Single-Item Presenteeism Questionnaire, University of Tokyo, 1-item version)
Presenteeism: A situation in which work efficiency is reduced due to some kind of health problem.
New Well-Challenge 2023: A fun exercise initiative for taking on challenges with friends
To achieve our exercise goal of "the percentage of people who exercise for 30 minutes at least twice a week," we held our original health promotion initiative, "New Well Challenge 2023," for approximately two months starting from the Health Declaration Day on June 10, 2023.
The concept combines "exercise," "communication," and "health independence." By setting goals in line with the health challenges of each department and working together with colleagues, we have not only increased the rate of exercise participation, but also led to a greater awareness of independent health initiatives and promotion of communication within the department. In addition to improving the rate of exercise participation, this has also led to an improvement in presenteeism *1*2.
*1: Measured using the SPQ (Single-Item Presenteeism Question, University of Tokyo, 1-item version)
*2: A situation in which work efficiency is reduced due to some kind of health problem (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare). Presenteeism is calculated as a value obtained by subtracting the actual measured value from 100%.
Implementing dietary initiatives aimed at improving anemia and overcoming metabolic syndrome
Of the 12 health indicators, the results for "proportion of women with anemia *1" and "rate of employees with metabolic syndrome (breakdown into metabolic and pre-metabolic)" showed a large discrepancy from the target values. We have identified this as one of the issues that we need to focus on, and have been considering countermeasures.
We developed new menu items to be served at the head office cafeteria, and in February 2024, we revamped the menu and began offering two new set meals. In order to supplement iron intake, we began serving iron-fortified rice in addition to "Iron-chan Lunch," which always contains 5 mg or more of iron. We measured changes in the hemoglobin levels of 24 female volunteer employees immediately after the introduction (March 2024) and three months later (June 2024) *2.
Of the 13 people whose hemoglobin levels were below the standard value of 12.0 g/dl as of March, an improvement in their hemoglobin levels was confirmed three months later. We believe that the conscious choice to eat "Lunch with Iron" and the consumption of iron-fortified rice had a major effect.
In addition, in August 2024, the "Good Things Lunch" initiative, which aims to reduce the proportion of employees with metabolic syndrome, received the highest three-star rating (standard: solid) from the "Healthy Meals and Food Environment (commonly known as Smart Meal)" certification sponsored by the Healthy Meals and Food Environment Consortium, a general incorporated association.

*1: Anemia is defined as a hemoglobin level of less than 12.0 g/dl
*2: Hemoglobin estimated using near-infrared spectroscopic imaging measurement method
Strengthening efforts with 39 messages that lead to inner vitality and 'improving the mind'
We have introduced a "39 (Thank You) Message" initiative, where employees express their gratitude to each other, to instill a culture of praise and recognition in everyday life.
in-house health currency, "ARUCO" is accumulated based on the progress of healthy lifestyle habits such as walking and answering drills. This initiative also allows employees to express their gratitude through messages, which naturally helps to expand connections across departments.
In March 2025, we implemented a year-end gratitude promotion project, which saw a 1.3-fold increase in the number of employees who took advantage of the system and a 1.6-fold increase in the number of messages sent.* As the number of users increases, the circle of gratitude naturally expands, and we have reaffirmed that this is a system that enhances positive emotions on both sides of the message sending and receiving process. We will continue to promote the use of the system to improve the mindset of our employees.
