Concept of the Chemical Substances Management
ROHTO Pharmaceutical (Group) conducts appropriate management and develops and produces chemical substances that have the potential to have harmful effects on human health and the ecosystem based on PRTR system of the Law for Promoting the Assessment and Control of Chemical Emissions.
Regarding chemical substances subject to PRTR, we report the amounts of substances that exceed the designated amount handled (1 ton or more per year) released into the atmosphere, public waters, and soil. We also report the amounts transferred outside of our business sites, and comply with PRTR system.
We will strengthen management throughout the entire life cycle of our products, from procurement of raw materials to production, distribution, use, and disposal, and will develop products and provide them to our customers with consideration for reducing environmental impact.
Management of PRTR Substances
PRTR system is a system for identifying and reporting the amounts of chemical substances that are potentially harmful to human health and the ecosystem that are discharged into the environment (air, water, and soil) from business sites, and the amounts of waste that is included in waste and transferred outside of business sites.
The Ueno Plant and the Osaka Plant report to and manage PRTR of substances subject to emissions from our business sites in Mie Prefecture and Osaka Prefecture, respectively, and comply with PRTR system.
Air Pollution Prevention
We are working to reduce emissions of chemicals that lead to air pollution, such as nitrogen oxide (NOx), particulates, and volatile organic compounds (VOC), by streamlining our manufacturing processes and operating environmentally friendly facilities.
As for sulfur oxide (SOx), the emission from our plants has been zero since 2000.
In addition, we comply with laws and regulations and appropriately report to local governments.
